Mala Beads for Mindfulness and Meditation

Mindful Malas - handmade, and created with intention

‘Mala’ is the Sanskrit word for ‘garland’. These beautiful beads are typically worn as a necklace or bracelet, and used for mediation or prayer, inspiring a daily practice of connection with peace, stillness and inner spirit. Malas can be used for Mantra Meditation, also known as ‘Japa’ which is Sanskrit for ‘repetition’ or ‘uttering’. Meditation with a Mala is a simple practice, which can offer an ideal introduction to meditation and mindfulness, where the focus on the beads and repetition of your chosen Mantra helps to cultivate a quiet and contented mind. Wearing your Mala can act as a comforting reminder of the intention you choose to bring in to your life.

  • Each Mindful Mala is handknotted, and created using carefully selected crystals, wooden/seed beads and a tassel. Each of these components are meaningful and will inspire your practice with your Mala. Most Malas are 108 beads + Guru bead, and some smaller options are 54 beads and 27 (all denominations of 108).

At Light & Soul, our Mindful Malas are made to order, with the recipient in heart and mind.

When you choose a Custom Mala, we work together in partnership to create something which inspires you .

  • Japa Mala names the practice of using Mala beads intentionally, to focus the mind and bring a sense of calm.

As each bead is moved between the fingers whilst working around the Mala, a mantra or affirmation is recited - either aloud or silently. Alternatively the beads can keep count of the inhale and exhale, whilst maintaining focus. The more a Mala is worked with, the more energy it holds - becoming a powerful and sacred tool which connects mind, body and spirit.

When you purchase a Mindful Mala, you are invited to book a short Japa Mala session via Zoom to help get you started with your practice.

  • Repetition or chanting of a word, sound or phrase, creates vibrational energy which gently embeds itself into the subconscious mind. This energy flows throughout our mind, body and spirit creating detectable chemical changes within.

Chanting balances the right and left hemispheres of our brain, regulating our nervous and endocrine systems. By regular repetition of Mantra, we can regulate stress and tension; changing our mood, sense of wellbeing, and even our reality.

When you purchase a Mindful Mala, you will receive a personalised affirmation which you may choose to use in your initial practice.
